Get a Virtual Card
A Virtual Card is used when you can't make it to the library and want to place an item on hold or browse our databases. Click here to get started with a Virtual Card. Once there, click on New User. Virtual Cards are only good for 30 days. You will need to come into one of the libraries to change your Virtual Card into a real card. See below for information on how to get a card.
Patron Registration
Residents of the High Plains Library District and non-residents known as CLC (Windsor, Dacono and outside of Weld County) who pay Colorado library taxes can get a library card.
Your first library card is free. Replacement library cards are $1.00.
You must have your library card with you to use the Internet computers.

For Residents (age 16 and older)
One photo identification with correct address is required to get a library card.
This can be shown on the same form of ID, such as a driver's license.
Acceptable forms of photo identification for borrowers age 16 and older include:
If the address on the photo ID is not correct, then a 2nd form of ID with the correct address is needed.

If patron has only 1 form of identification, patron can receive an unverified card that will allow them to check out 1 item. Patron can fill out a HPLD postcard that will be mailed to them. Once patron receives, bring it back to the library and the postcard will count as proof of residence.
For Non-Residents/CLC (those residing outside the HPLD boundaries) (age 16 and older)
Acceptable forms of photo identification for borrowers age 16 and older include:

Juvenile Card (age 15 and younger)
Both parent/legal guardian and juvenile must be present to get a card.
If parent/legal guardian has a valid HPLD card, this can be used as verification of address and parent/legal guardian does not need to show additional ID.
If parent/legal guardian does not have a valid HPLD card, a photo ID and verification of address must be shown. (See acceptable forms of identification above).
Net Library Card
Patrons who only wish to use the Internet computers, can obtain a Net Library Card. Ask at the service desk for requirements.
